It was a good opportunity for us to visit one of the biggest innovative products company in Indonesia.
What does holiday mean to you? For us, holiday means having more opportunity to enhance our knowledge, especially in terms of product development. Hence, in our second week of holiday, we conducted a company visit to PT. 3M Indonesia, a company that is revolved with advanced technology to serve customers with innovative products and service. It was a good opportunity for us to visit one of the biggest innovative products company in Indonesia. Moreover, this visit was not only attended by Prodev Lab Assistants, but also Ergonomics Center Lab Assistants, which made it more fun!
This company visit was started by a presentation section by the company. First, we were explained about what 3M actually is and how it serves customers from year to year. Surprisingly, 3M products are widely spread throughout the world and we just don’t realize that we use 3M products in our daily life. The main lessons that we got from this presentation section were 2 things, Product Development and Application Development. When Product Development Division focuses on creating new products, Application Development Division focuses on developing the usability of the products itselves so it can increase products’ utility. We were also introduced to how it is like to generate creative ideas and how to identify market’s need.
The most interesting part was visiting 3M’s Customer Innovation Center, a place that is designed like a museum which aims to display 3M products. Here, we saw lots of 3M products directly. The products were divided into several groups, such as office, electronics, home appliances, automotives, and many more. By visiting Customer Innovation Center, we learned that a simple thing can be processed into lots of beneficial products with a glimpse of technology and a talented engineer behind it.
Last but not least, we visited 3M Workshop, a place that is used to test the feasibility of 3M’s new products which will be sold throughout Indonesia. After all, it was an exciting experience for us to visit PT. 3M Indonesia and it was nice to share knowledge with all of people there.
